Paul Hennesy
(1952 - 2015)
Paul Hennesy died peacefully Friday April 24, 2015 in his home in Clifton, VA with his family at his side.
Gerald, a native of Washington, D.C., was an impressionist working in oils and watercolors. He attended the Corcoran School of Art on a scholarship. His paintings have been exhibited at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Georgia Museum of Art, the Corcoran and the Smithsonian, and are displayed in numerous public and private collections, including The House of Representatives and the State Department.
Paul was born in Rhode Island in 1954.
Paul particularly admired the work of the French and American Impressionist painters, and study of their work had had a strong influence on his own style, wherein he painted to capture the effects of light and atmosphere with high key color and energetic, painterly brushwork. Paul and his father, Gerald Hennesy, frequently traveled to Europe to study the masters firsthand and search for new subjects to paint.
